The Backstory

Having built the original home 20-plus years prior, the homeowners had grown tired of everything- from the lack of street presence to the less then graceful roof line, the dated interiors, the inefficient floor plan and the limited connection to the lake. Armed with a long list of design goals, a firm budget and a variance for a 452-square-foot extension, we worked together to reimagine the home.

Better flow at kitchen, and to dining room

Design Solution

Inspired by timeless Shingle-style cottages, we gave the street side of the home some much-needed charm and personality. The roof was redesigned to create classical symmetry and added dormers, classic bullseye windows and copper gutters, and gave the garage a glow-up with new doors, a bonus window and a lawn mower garage. A welcoming new entrance offers an unobstructed view of the lake from the front door and added columns and stone steps. Using the approved extension, the great room was extended to the lake and added graceful paneling and new windows and sliding doors to make the most of the views and create easy flow between indoors and out. Together with the interior designer, the kitchen and dining area were redesigned with better circulation and more storage for ease of daily life and entertaining and redesigned the powder room with more glamour and functionality.
